The Independent DocuFilm Series, co-hosted by Junktown Cinema Club and UUCGV, is intended to serve as a platform to shed light on topics related to humanitarian, environmental, and social justice.
By meeting with the film creators and participants during each screening, we equip the community with the information
and tools to take steps of action inspired by the film.

West Virginia yoga teachers Barbara Steinke and Sue Julian combine the experience of their lives and take yoga into men and women prisons. The video discusses the formulation of the idea, the cooperation of prison officials and the results - as expressed by inmates/students.
Laotong Yoga has grown into a beacon of social justice and mindfulness-based practices since the film came out 8 years ago. Join us directly following the film screening for an interview with Laotong Yoga’s executive director, Jennie Hill, to learn more about how this program has expanded over the years through sharing practices of meditation and trauma informed yoga with individuals incarcerated in WV correctional facilities and with others involved with the criminal legal system, whether through re-entry, recovery, rehabilitation, or employment.
