UUCGV Seeks Music Director
Music Director paid-position open at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of the Grand Valley (536 Ouray Ave, GJ, CO). Choir has been in existence for 20 + years. Our choir sings 2 services a month.
POSITION: Music/Choir Director
OBJECTIVE:
A professional position responsible for directing and coordinating a music/choir program for adults, with the expectation that as the congregation grows a children/youth program will be implemented.
RESPONSIBLE TO:
The Music/Choir Director is supervised by the Minister and is responsible to the congregation as defined in the UUCGV Personnel Policy Manual.
ROLE (General Statement of Duties):
The role of the Music/Choir Director is to coordinate, administer, and implement musical programming. The Director will work with the UUCGV Minister and Worship Team to accomplish these tasks as well as accompanists and guest musicians whom she/he will supervise.

Membership in the Unitarian Universalist Musician’s Network, dues to be paid by UUCGV.
Attend the UUMN Conference every other year, paid by UUCGV.

The role of the Music/Choir Director is to coordinate, administer, and implement musical programming. The Director will work with the UUCGV Minister and Worship Team to accomplish these tasks as well as accompanists and guest musicians whom she/he will supervise.
HOURS:
- Approximately 8 hours per week per calendar year.
- Hours are flexible and shall include Sunday mornings when the choir is performing. (The adult choir is expected to perform twice per month between September and May.)
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Responsible for the planning and implementation of a variety of musical programming for UUCGV and creative development of the music program for a growing congregation (i.e. UUCGV Band, Children’s Choir, etc.)
- Ongoing communication with the Minister and/or Worship Team in scheduling and coordinating music selections for Sunday services.
- Responsible for rehearsing the adult choir once a week and prior to services.
- Scheduling accompanist and special music for Sunday services.
- Attend weekly staff meetings and the bimonthly Worship Team meetings.
- Responsible for maintaining the music budget and communicating projected budgetary needs for growth.
- Assist with special fundraising events and programs designed to raise funds for the music program.
- Abide by the copyright laws by ensuring musicians have original music for rehearsal and performance.
- May be called upon to help with special ceremonies, e.g., funerals, weddings, etc. payment for which will be negotiated on a case by case basis.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT:

QUALIFICATIONS:
Professional Qualifications
- Some professional training in vocal music.
- Experience working with choirs.
Other Qualifications
- Ability to listen well and communicate effectively by both oral and written means.
- Ability to recruit, train and work with volunteers.
- Must pass background checks.
- Positive, optimistic attitude with a passion for music.
